Men At Work [Dec. 20th, 2009|01:44 pm]

archers_elegant
Master Archer and Dallas installed a ceiling fan in our family room yesterday. This morning they took it down and installed another. Sheesh.

Master's mother had given us a used ceiling fan and we've been wanting to put it in the family room since we moved here. Alas, this called for running power to the tall peaked ceiling (and I did not want a conduit across the ceiling).  Added to the fact that our 6' ladder does not work to reach a 12 foot peek.....dad-in-law to the rescue!

So after the shop vac debacle the hand-me-down ceiling fan was installed. We sat and watched the blades turn and the men smiled at their handiwork...and then the fan stopped. Master pulled the chain (no nasty comments, please) a few times and *popsizzle* dead lighted ceiling fan.

Off to Lowe's this morning to choose a new ceiling fan..either that or repair the hole in the ceiling. Dad-in-law gave us yet another Christmas gift. I think the man is really Santa!

I Want Snow! [Dec. 19th, 2009|01:11 pm]

archers_elegant
My dad just sent me pis of the snow at his place..7" at his house near Winston-Salem, NC I want snow!!! I never want the weather we had when living in Wisconsin but one or two snowstorms a year (like in NC) would be fun! I've got a fire crackling in the family room, I'm making cookies and the dogs (Nikkipupkidlet and her two visitors) are curled up napping. We're ready for the snow but it's a dream.

In-Laws and Home Improvement [Dec. 19th, 2009|01:05 pm]

Master Archer's dad arrived on Thursday. He'll be here 'till after Christmas. It has not become a fish situation yet. He's here to give us a fabulous Christmas gift...skill and time. He's a fix-it type man..a DIY enthusiasist...a handman extraordinaire. He loaded up his van with a variety of tools, two dogs and his own pillows and drove up from Florida to do some house repairs and improvements for us...some of the things we never seem to get around to doing. Oh, and after a trip to Lowe's yesterday he tells us that the parts and supplies purchased are part of his gift. The man rocks!

Master has been helping him..being tool-monkey but also doing some of the tasks on his own. So far completed:

  • Electrical receptacle in workshop kitchen works now!
  • Smoke alarm replaced
  • Two 4 outlet receptacles put into garage. (one more to do)
  • Repair and replace wiring and electrical receptacles in workshop. (seeing live wires spark was scary)
On The List:
  • Finish door install in workshop (started by someone else 2 years ago)
  • Repair and replace water filter in kitchen
  • Install ceiling fan in Family Room
  • Connect gas grill line to gas line in house. (note to self: leave house that day)
Nikkipupkidlet and the two visiting dogs are basically ignoring each other. Nikkikittykidlet does not like the intruders. She hisses and growls and then hides in our bedroom. Poor kitty.

The Beat Goes On [Dec. 17th, 2009|07:46 am]

I was hoping (wishful thinking) that once Twisted Toyland was over things would slow down a bit. No such luck.

I've got a few custom orders to finish up and get shipped off by Saturday. Bio family gifts also need to be shipped. Master's father arrives tonight for an extended 1+ week visit. This is good in that he's coming to spend Christmas with us and to do some much needed home repair and home improvement projects. But I have to get the house cleaned today. Plus having a visitor means we have to have dinner at a standard dinner time..not whenever Master gets hungry.

We did take some time for fun last night and went to the North Fulton Munch. A Guinness and friends...what a nice evening. My mentee and I even slipped away to the front room for some private chat time after dinner.

Off to clean!

Helping The Hungry....With A Twist [Dec. 15th, 2009|05:17 pm]

archers_elegant

In 2009 12.6% of Georgia households experience low food security. This past weekend hundreds of folks in the alternative lifestyle community helped raise money for those households at Twisted Toyland Atlanta.

A record of 277 shoppers visited Twisted Toyland Atlanta held this past Saturday at the Spring4th Center. Along with 18 merchants and their 43 staff members and 30 volunteers, chili makers and dessert bakers a grand total of 350 people enjoyed the festivities.

The Atlanta Community Food Bank will be the recipient of the $1875 raised from admission, raffle ticket sales and food sales.

The Atlanta Community Food Bank currently distributes nearly two million pounds of food and other donated grocery items each month to more than 800 nonprofit partner agencies in 38 counties in Metro Atlanta and North Georgia. The Food Bank also operates several community projects to aid our agencies in community building, technical assistance and advocacy efforts.

Plans for Twisted Toyland 2010 are already underway.

Thanks!

Elegant & Dillon

Atlanta alternative lifestyle community brings it on for Twisted Toyland! [Dec. 13th, 2009|09:14 pm]

archers_elegant
A record 277 shoppers visited Twisted Toyland Atlanta this past Saturday. Along with 18 merchants and their 43 staff members and 30 volunteers, chili makers and dessert bakers a grand total of 350 people enjoyed the festivities.

The community gladly pitched in to make the 8th annual Twisted Toyland a success. What many people did not realize was that the event almost didnt happen. Planning had begun in August but the event Producer then encountered an unrelated dilemma and organizing Twisted Toyland was delayed. This was confirmed less than two weeks before the event. Dillon and I made a bold (and masochistic) decision…to continue this eight year traditional event even though there were only 10 days remaining until the event and so much to do.

The help and support from the community was amazing. Blaze and Phoenix immediately offered to coordinate vendor load-in and this ended up being a chilly job. Marg was our vendor wrangler and used her incredible retail layout skills to arrange merchant spaces. She welcomed each vendor and made sure that they were happy and ready for a day of fun. Aleck was our legal council and helped Dillon with contract tasks. Tabby handled the admission desk and raffle ticket sales and was the first smiling face people saw when they arrived at Twisted Toyland. Big Red stepped up as an excellent Emcee. Dale, Dre, Michael, Lissa and other folks pitched in with loading, unloading, set-up and break-down. Spring4th went out of their way to answer our endless questions and had extra staff the day of the event to move furniture, rearrange rooms and help with other tasks. Dozens of Café’ Kink volunteers, chili makers and bakers were busy to make the event wondermus. Of course, the vendors were fabulous and went out of their way to help as needed.

We'll have all the accounting finalized tomorrow and will announce how much money was raised for charity.

For eight years Twisted Toyland has been held to raise money for various needs. Eight years ago boy bob Harris, slave of Popa Doug Harris, was hospitalized and there was very little money available for his care. Boy bob had shared so much with the community, including money to help create Sanctuary Of A Dark Angel. I could not give money to help with medical bills but I could use my skills to help raise money..so Twisted Toyland (then called Atlanta Fetish Flea Market) was created. Boy bob passed on before the event was actually held but those original funds raised still helped with the bills. The event became an annual occurrence with money raised donated to various organizations: National Coalition For Sexual Freedom, Leather Angels Fund, AID Atlanta and others.

Four years ago I realized that my life had become too busy and I was involved in too many community endeavors. I decided to let go of Twisted Toyland and asked my good friend MJ if she would like to produce the event. I stayed involved and helped MJ with promoting the event every year.

MJ has now asked me to take over Twisted Toyland. It is as if she has fostered the event for the past few years, raising it well and has now returned my grown-up baby. Thank you MJ, for keeping Twisted Toyland alive and well.

I will not be producing Twisted Toyland alone. Dillon and I will work together as Co-Producers to organize this annual event. We’ll also work side-by-side with all the fabulous volunteers in the community.

Thank you EVERYONE!

Monday Moaner [Dec. 7th, 2009|04:10 pm]

archers_elegant

A Jewish man wakes up in the hospital bandaged from head to foot. The doctor comes in and says, "Ah, I see you've regained consciousness. Now you probably won't remember, but you were in a huge pile-up on the freeway. You're going to be ok, you'll walk again and everything, but your penis was severed in the accident and we couldn't find it."

The man groans, but the doctor goes on, "You've got $9000 in insurance compensation coming and we now have the technology to build a new penis. They work great but they don't come cheap. It's roughly $1000 an inch."

The man perks up.

"So," the doctor says, "You must decide how many inches you want. But this is something you should discuss with your wife. IF you had a five incher before and get a nine incher now she might be a bit put out. If you had a nine incher before and you decide to only invest in a five incher now, she might be disappointed. It's important that she plays a role in helping you make a decision."

The man agrees to talk it over with his wife.

The doctor comes back the next day, "So, have you spoken with your wife?"

"Yes I have," says the man.

"And has she helped you make a decision?" questioned the doctor.

"Yes" says the man.

"What is your decision?" asks the doctor.

The Twisted Toyland Christmas Song

Chili roasting on an Crock Pot fire
Clothespins nipping at your nose
Yule and Carol being strung by a wire
And folks dressed up in fetish clothes

Everybody knows some cookies

And some cheesecake squares

Help make the shopping day a joy
Tiny tits with their nips all aglow
Will find it hard to not enjoy

They know that Twisted Toyland’s on it’s way
It’s loaded lots of toys and goodies
To use for play
And every kinky gal is gonna spy

To see if floggers really know how to fly

And so, I'm offering this simple phrase

To pervs from eighteen to ninety-two
Altho' it's been said many times many ways;

"Twisted Toyland Is For You”
